Bossypants | Tina Fey

★★★★☆

Tina Fey amuses me, and while we would not agree on lots of things morally, politically, etc etc, she makes me laugh. I listened to this on my journey home from a weekend away and it was a good choice – any post-holiday blues were blown away by the many times I laughed out loud listening. She reflects on various periods of her life with great humour, but also from time to time with pretty spot-on observations.

“Bossypants” refers to Fey’s role as a producer and writer of a critically acclaimed network show (30 Rock), and her experiences as a woman trying (and succeeding!) to work in a male-dominated business. As one might expect, it has not always been plain sailing, but she approaches some cringeworthy episodes with humour and no-nonsense.

I enjoyed this immensely but felt the need to drop a star for what felt like unnecessary language choices, so similar to Carrie Fisher’s “Wishful Drinking”, I would recommend this but with caution and with a strong language warning.
